Obituary of James Harold Smith

James “Jim” Harold Smith, 68 of Land O’ Lakes, Florida died on Wednesday January 3, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Warrington, Lancashire, England on March 29, 1955. Jim was an avid fisherman from a very young age. He attended Dunedin High School. He spent his teenage years in Oldsmar, Florida catching snook, sheepshead, redfish, mullet and crabs just to name a few. Jim loved the outdoors and spent as much time outside as he could fishing in lakes and rivers in the area. Bass fishing was his passion. Jim was part of the construction team that built the sphere at the Dali Museum. His knowledge of metal and glass made him an expert. He also installed many pool enclosures and screened lanais and patios in an around the Tampa Bay area. He was a kind and gentle soul with a big heart for animals and wildlife. He built a magnificent bird feeder in his yard that was visited by a multitude of cardinals and blue jays and a variety of other birds. Jim was a great friend, a loving son, brother, uncle and nephew and will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He is survived by his mother Barbara Foraker Smith, sister Laura Briggs (David), sister Caroline Smith Mosier, nephew James A. Smith, II (Danielle), niece Nicole Hepler (Aaron), brother-in-law James A. Smith, I and uncle John C. Foraker (Linda). He was preceded in death by his father Elton “Jim” Smith and his brother John Jeffrey “Jeff” Smith. Special thanks to Suncoast Hospice, Empath Hospice & Lifepath Hospice for your compassionate care.
